Answer to You

Received two comments to my cat killer/dog killer rant. One agreed with me and the other wonders why a whale-loving person such as myself would hate human beings so much. Well, duh....how many whales do you know who would pour gasoline on a group of dolphins and burn them alive with a propane torch? And, wow, it's so nice to know that Richard Wyatt (the commenter knows ol' Richard) doesn't have a garbage-strewn yard - just a garbage-strewn life, apparently. Anyone who perpetrates such cruelty on another living being doesn't deserve to live, as far as I'm concerned. A cat's life, a dog's life, a horse's life (etc.) is just as valuable as a human being's life. Why so many humans think they have the right to do whatever they want to this earth and to the animals that live on it is beyond me. We are all part of this planet. Human beings are supposedly the higher-level beings on this planet. That makes us the guardians, not the destroyers. I don't care if Richard Wyatt's mama abused him or his daddy beat the crap out of him or his teachers didn't understand him or his boss fired him or his girlfriend left him for another woman - NOTHING excuses what he did. Nothing excuses what dog killer Donald Byrant did. They chose to hurt those animals. It was their choice. Richard Wyatt caught those cats. He could have called Animal Services if he was angry because they were in his yard. He could have made just one simple phone call; instead, he chose torture. Donald Byrant could have called the owners of the dogs. Instead he left them to starve to death with food just a few feet away out of their reach. I will not forgive them.

Rohana,

I left the previous comment. My point was three-fold: 1) People's anger causes them to make all sorts of statements and formulate all sorts of beliefs that are not correct. Your "garbage strewn yard" comment was incorrect. Your "garbage strewn life" is also incorrect. This guy has, in my non-expert opinion, real mental issues. But you prefer to just think of him as some scum bag living in the hood? That is an insult to all of his neighbors. He needs psychological help.

2) Do you really believe that whatever crime is done should be paid back in kind? Do you really believe that a person found guilty of murder should be murdered in the same way they murdered their victim? Do you even support capital punishment at all? I think that setting a human being on fire is a ludicrous way to punish them for setting another human being on fire, much less setting a cat on fire.

3) I agree with you that we are guardians of earth. Humans have a responsibility as the most intelligent and most resourceful creatures on the planet to be caretakers of it. But, I would never equate any animal with a human. Where would I draw the line? Does a bug qualify as an animal? What about a fish? Let me ask you another question, and this is one of those silly hypotheticals but here goes anyway...what if a total stranger to you was in a car accident that you witnessed. She was seriously hurt, and her pet dalmation was also hurt. Both were bleeding and unconscious, who would you choose to rescue, and who would you choose to leave behind? I would hope you would choose to save the Human, not the dog. If this is the case, then even you agree that a human is more valuable than an animal.

I will say again that hope Mark gets the maximum punishment the law will allow. I hope that he also gets some serious therapy and counseling. Furthermore, I hope that the anger that all of Earth's people have that would drive them to wish harm on any creature or person goes away.

Peace from your fellow whale lover and Floridian.

First off the owner of the dogs is and was and remains to be Donald Bryant... he had left the animals in the care of the ex lover.. Gary Anthony Nolan .. who by the way owns the home at 2161 Hillwood Court. My Goodness must have been Mr. Nolan who killed the dogs out of revenge since Mr. Bryant broke up with him 3 years ago and Mr. Nolan would not accept that at all.
