Where to even begin

I admit it -- I've been hiding in my little house, hoping that all the mean-as-a-rabid-coyote ugliness and unbearable fear-mongering that's happening in the US isn't happening, that the US isn't on the brink of becoming Gilead (The Handmaid's Tale). I don't even know what to think, what to do, what to say. I just plain-out don't understand the hatred in the hearts of the Republican leaders in this country. Right now, in the so-called Alligator Alcatraz concentration camp in the Florida Everglades, there are hundreds of detainees with no criminal record (so much for Republican leaders describing Alligator Alcatraz as a holding pen for “deranged psychopaths” and “monsters,” right, Governor DeSantis?).

I get it that many Americans want those who came to the US illegally to be kicked out of our once-wonderful, generous country. Are these unwanted "monsters" taking valuable jobs from everyday US citizens? Do you want to work in the fields and orchards picking strawberries, carrots, lettuce, tomatoes, apples, peaches, etc. -- fields with no air-conditioning, no breakroom with coffee, water cooler, and snacks, no clean air-conditioned bathrooms? Fields and orchards with no roof to protect you from the sun and rain, with bugs flying around your face or crawling up your legs under your pants? Do you want to clean motel/hotel rooms trashed by tourists who are on vacation and have the mindset of "let the maid deal with this mess"? Do you want to wash a constant barrage of dirty dishes in the hot kitchen of a busy restaurant? Do you want to work in a rancid factory where panicked animals like pigs, chickens, and cattle are slaughtered? What?! You're not standing in line to demand one of those jobs for yourself and your friends? I'm amazed.

The man who owns my once-upon-a-time lawn service (I can't afford it anymore, unfortunately) is being deported. He has an American wife and two children, and while I don't know the whole story, I know he is not a "monster" or a "deranged psychopath." No, the monster and deranged psychopath lives in the White House, along with all the suck-ups in his administration and in Congress. I don't understand how the MAGA people in this country can't see that Trump is not Making America Great Again; he's Making America God-Awful. Trump can yammer on about beautiful this and beautiful that, but you know when he says that word we, the non-wealthy, are going to get f--ked, even though he believes since he became our so-called leader, "People are happy. People are wealthy." I don't know about you, but I'm definitely not wealthy and I sure the hell am not happy.
